Williston Varsity Baseball moves to a record of 16-5 after winning two of their last three games with their only defeat coming from Trinity Catholic for the second time this season.

The Red Devils bounced right back after their close loss to Trinity Catholic on April 10 by the score of 2-4 with a big 10-0 shutout against Interlachen. And yes, as you may have guessed, Trent Johnson was on the mound for his fifth consecutive shutout win. Johnson recorded five strike outs and allowed only one hit in 65 pitches and a five inning outing.

While the pitching was excellent the offensive side of the ball also went well as the Devils scored 10 runs in five innings with the first five batters in the line up all scoring twice.

Williston wasted no time putting runs on the board as the first five batters in the first inning all scored as they made it all the way through the batting order.

Austin Langworthy started the assault with a lead off HR followed by a Cano single, a double off the bat of Forsythe and two singles by Blaylock and Coffey. Cason reaching on a fielder’s choice RBI finished the first inning rout with Williston up 5-0.

Coffey scored again in the third off a double hit by Spikes. In the fourth inning the flood gates opened again for the Devils’ bats with the top of the lineup batting three doubles and two singles to score four more and finish a 10-0 romping over Interlachen.

The Red Devils finished their regular season play this week at home with the annual Tiffany Poupard Memorial Tuesday against Union County and the last game of the season will be held Friday  at 7 p.m. against Vanguard High School.

Friday night will be senior night to honor WHS seniors and cap off a well played season and then set sights on post season play.

Earlier in the season Williston defeated Union County on March 12 9-3 and Vanguard on March 8 by a score of 7-0.
