It was five quick 3-point baskets by the Santa Fe Raiders on Friday night Dec.21, that put the Red Devils in an early hole that they just could not climb out of.

Santa Fe dropped in five first quarter 3-point baskets to hold onto an early 19-16 lead as the first quarter of the District game came to an end.

In the second quarter, the 3-point basket failed to fall for the Raiders, as David Heinkel and Damien Strange found the range for the Red Devils as they helped to pull the Red Devils to within one point of the Raiders at half time, 27-26.

The Red Devils, who normally come out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, just could not get on their game. The Raiders, behind Montrell Tagg and Marcus Archer, continued to run their offense and pulled out to a 45-40 lead to start the fourth and final quarter.

After falling behind by nine points midway through the fourth and final quarter, the Red Devils made their best run of the game. Led by Earl Brown, Tre Wilson, and Strange, the Red Devils cut the Raider lead to just three points at 60-57. Two made free throws cut the Raider lead to 60-59 with 37 seconds left in the game. A Raider lay up sealed the win for the Raiders at 62-59.

Wilson led the Red Devils in scoring with 16 points, while Strange added 12 points. Brown and Alex Porter had 11 points each. Tagg led all players with 18 points for the Raiders and Archer had 11 points.

In earlier game action, the Williston JV led at every stop, as they took the win over the Raider JV team 42-36. The Red Devil JV was led in scoring by Jarmez Penny with 15 points. Devon Webb added seven points for the Red Devils. Kuson Wakely led the Raider JV with 12 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
