Ratchford brothers are fastest in Crossfit’s Swamp Challenge

 Williston residents Austin Ratchford and Thomas Ratchford competed in a  Crossfit competition in Gainesville Aug. 11. 

The competition was Crossfit Gainesville's 4th annual Swamp Challenge. The challenge was designed to test competitors’ strength and endurance. Multiple gyms from across Gainesville had teams competing. At the peak of the event there were over 200 competitors.  

The events included:Team 1km Row; 200 yd. Sled Drag (M:135lb, W:90lb); Partner Wheel Barrow; Team Tire Flip ~150-200 lb.; Sandbag Zig Zag Sprint (M: 60 lb., Co-Ed: 40 lb., W: 40 lb.); 400m Run; 100 Team Burpees; 400m Run; 100 Team Box Jumps (20"); 400m Run; 100 Team KB Swings (M: 4 lb., W: 26 lb.); Partner Fireman Carry to Finish Line.

The Ratchford brothers competed in the event and recorded the fastest time of 31:19.  

The brothers grew up in Williston and attended Williston High School between 2004 and 2008. Austin is currently enlisted in the Army and Thomas is a firefighter  for the city of Williston.
