On behalf of the GFWC Williston Junior Woman's Club I would like to thank the Williston community for their overwhelming support of this year's Christmas Parade and Light Up Williston. The Junior Woman's Club has sponsored the Christmas Parade for many years and this year we also sponsored the Light Up Williston festivities. Our club feels these events bring joy to many in the area and are worthy of our support.
These two events could not happen without the assistance of many people in our community and we would like to publicly say "thanks" to all those who helped make the night a success. A big thank you to Chief Dan Davis and the Williston Police Department for making the parade route a safe place for all.
Also, thank you to the parade judges Betty Fender and Melanie Acree for doing the difficult job of picking winners from all the wonderful floats in the parade. We would also like to express our gratitude to James Arrington and the Public Works crews for putting up the lights, getting things ready at the pavilion, and making sure Williston "lit-up" on cue. The evening's entertainment helped put everyone in a jolly mood and we owe many thanks to Sara & the First Methodist Church Children's Choir and Jana & the First Baptist Church Children's Choir.
Mayor Hethcoat, Judge Griffis, and Judge Smith shared in the emcee duties and kept the evening on track and we appreciate their willingness to do that job.
There are many others that helped behind the scenes and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to them all, just because they were not mentioned by name does not mean their contribution was any less appreciated. Finally, a very big "Thank You" to Santa Claus for taking time from his busy schedule at the North Pole to be in the parade and listen to the wishes of the children of Williston.
