The Holiday season is just around the corner and the GFWC Williston Junior Woman?s Club is sponsoring the 6th Annual Williston Christmas Parade. The parade will begin on Friday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. and will be the official start of the 2007 Light Up Williston Festivities. This year the parade theme is ?The Night Before Christmas.?
Once Santa Claus arrives and brings the parade through town, he will be available for pictures near the pavilion.
Parade details and entry forms may be obtained by calling Julie Thorrington at 528-1712. There is no entry fee this year. All entries must be received by Tuesday, Dec. 4.
This year Light Up Williston will be coordinated with the City?s Community Redevelopment Agency?s 3rd Annual Chili Cook-off!
This contest pits the area?s best chili makers against each other in two categories, mild and spicy. The result is a wonderful treat for everyone who gets to taste the concoctions. Prizes are awarded to the three best in each category.
The chili will be judged by members of the city council during the parade, and the results announced during of Light Up Williston. As soon as the judging is complete, spectators are invited to sample each chili submission: the ?price? of admission to the tasting is a can of food to be donated to a local food bank.
Chefs who are interested in entering the CRA Chili Cook-off will find registration forms at City Hall or those interested may contact Jessica Throckmorton at 318-2940 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The registration fee is 10 cans of food to benefit local food pantries. Chili Cook-off registration forms must be received by Dec. 3.
