You may have seen it on our front page last week. Beginning Thursday, March 17 the Williston Pioneer website goes to a subscriber-only site.
Why? You’re asking. Because our newpaper content has value and there is expense associated with delivering it to you–whether it be in print form or online.
Each week more than 20 people help get your newspaper to you. Most of you only see the three of us here–Debbie, Chris and me. But the truth is, behind the scenes there are others who ensure that the paper reaches the mailboxes and stores each week.
The Chiefland Citizen is our sister paper and our staffs interact every day to produce our newspapers.
Marcia and Melissa assist with circulation and classifieds; Gina and Becky sell ads; Cheri and Beverly do our bookkeeping; Lou and her crew help with news coverage; Fred designs ads and takes the pages we produce and converts them to film; John and Billy actually print the newspaper and then John, Bill, Gary and Paula–with help from Fred, Kitty and the other John, label and insert the newspapers. Lastly Steve delivers it. Whew! That’s a lot of people–people who work hard day in and day out. And of course, labor and materials don’t come cheap.
So what does this mean to you, our loyal readers?
If you are a current mail subscriber, you will have total access to our website–everything you are accustomed to seeing will be at your fingertips. An ad on page 15 in this edition tells you how to get your website account number. That’s two subscriptions (print and online) for the price of one.
Non-subscribers will have an opportunity to sign up for a 30-day free trial. We hope you like what you see and will want to become a paid subscriber.
You’ll be able to check out photos and read all of our stories. Plus, you’ll have instant access to all of the advertisements on our news pages as well as our special sections. You’ll also be able to read our classifieds and check out our real estate listings. The website will now be updated first thing Thursday morning to ensure you have the news as soon as possible–even before it’s on the streets, which is generally noon.
For anyone who chooses not to subscribe, there will be some limited free material on the website, like the calendar and the Pet of the Week, but for the most part, there will not be available reading content for non-subscribers.
We hope you will continue to view our website and patronize our advertisers who make both the print and online editions possible.
If you have questions, don’t hestitate to call, and if we don’t have the answers, we’ll find someone who does.
Visit www.willistonpioneer.com today and subscribe. You don’t want to miss news that affects you.
We hope you value our content as much as we value you–the people who have supported Levy County’s oldest newspaper, serving Williston and the surrounding community since 1879.
