Williston High School all-star softball player Margaret Brown has signed to play with Polk Community College in Winter Haven for the next two years.
The three-sport star was a first-team Class 3A All-State outfielder last year. This year's team has not yet been announced.
The left-handed Brown will be joining the Vikings and coach Dottie Cupp. "She'll definitely be in the outfield," Cupp said at a signing ceremony at the WHS Media Center on Tuesday.
Cupp just completed her third season at the Polk County school. The team was 32-26 last season and fifth in its region, Cupp said.
WHS coach Robert Patterson and former middle school coach Greg Yancey both congratulated Brown on her accomplishment, as did principal Mike DeLucas.
Brown is the second signee off this year's team. Heather Porter had previously agreed to attend Central Florida Community College in Ocala.
Cupp said that Polk is scheduled to play games at CFCC and at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville next spring.
