A Williston man is in police custody following a search that gave chase to a Main Street business last Friday.
Around 11:30 a.m. dispatchers were alerted of a possible domestic battery and Cpl. Fred Morris was dispatched to the scene.
Morris found the victim with a broken nose allegedly caused by her ex-boyfriend. The victim said the perpetrator, Carlos D. Conseco, 24, repeatedly punched her and took her wallet.
Twenty minutes later Wayne Carson, the city’s code enforcement officer, saw someone matching Conseco’s description running into Jay’s Internet Café on Main Street.
Security camera footage confirmed Conseco had entered the building but had not exited.
Levy County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Kinik was in the area with his K-9 partner, Rossi, and all available law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene.
With Deputy Police Chief Clay Connolly covering the exits, Morris, Kinik, Rossi and Chief Dennis Strow entered the building to conduct a search.
Conseco was found in a storage room behind cardboard boxes.
He surrendered and was taken to the Levy County Jail.
Conseco was charged with domestic battery and strong arm snatching/robbing.
