It may have rained almost every day for the last few weeks, but Mignon Craig of the Williston Garden Club knows that water is good for the soul and for flowers to look their best. “Gardening is different in this part of Florida,” Craig said as she recently watered the flower boxes in front of the Williston Post Office. From the sandhills to rich, fertile soil under live oak trees, Craig said gardeners have to pay close attention to the earth when planting to ensure the plants and the soil are right for each other–and this part of the state.
