The lifelike wax figure of Charles Dickens, author of the beloved "A Christmas Carol," sat quietly in his corner at the Williston Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 8, as the Friends of the Library's annual open house swirled about him.
A few people browsed through the books, and some tried to use the computers in the usually quiet space. It wasn't easy to concentrate.
There was a buffet table laden with fancy finger foods and punch. (No mulled cider this year - the weather wasn't appropriate.)
