It all started with the Lady Red Devil JV team making one great play after another as they worked quickly in their match with the Bradford JV Lady Tornadoes.
The JV Red Devils took their match in two straight games 25-12 and 25-15 Sept. 1 at the Williston gym.
Next up was the 1-1 Lady Devil Varsity team in their opening district match for the young season.
In game one the Lady Devils were led by Morgan Vanasco, Haley Beckham, Rea Samuels, and Kaitlyn Bannon's outstanding court play.
But it was the outstanding serves by Sarah Domenico that pulled the Lady Devils to a 25-9 win in game one.
After jumping out to a 6-0 early lead in game two, the Lady Devils appeared to lose their concentration and the Lady Tornadoes came roaring back to tie the game at 12-12, forcing a Lady Devil time out.
The Lady Tornadoes continued their aggressive play moving out to a 16-12 lead scoring four straight points following the time out.
The Lady Devils began to pick up their play behind a couple of saves by Bannon and Chelsea Dola. Ericka Floyd tied the game at 17-17 with a towering kill shot.
It was then that Vanasco and Beckham took control of the court and lifted the Lady Red Devils to a 25-21 win in game two.
Lady Devil Head Coach Kim Nivala began to empty the bench playing every player through out game three. Game three saw the lead go back and forth with the teams trading points on almost every serve.
Tied at 20-20 the Lady Red Devils behind Samara Masseo, Heather Schuetze, Samantha Hall, Anna Pallone, Katie Casperson, and Jennifer Matthews pulled out the win 25-21 for the match.
The Lady Red Devils are now 2-1, 1-0 in District play. The Lady Red Devils return to district action Sept. 8, as they host the Fort White Lady Indians.
Game times are JV 5 p.m. and varsity 6:30 p.m.
