Lady Devil Cagers earn two district road wins

Jumping ahead 10-0 in the first quarter with a halftime lead of 23-6, the Lady Devils never looked back as they evened their season record to 9-9 and increased their district record to 5-2. 

Leading all scorers was Jill Edwards with 16 points including 3 of 4 three-point shooting. Lakeria Wright led the team with 11 assists as the Lady Devils opened the game with point blank shooting due to the sharp passing of Lakeria Wright and Deonna Hamilton.

Other scorers included: Precious Williams 9, Danielle Dallas 7, Briaana Monroe 5, Deonna Hamilton 3, Shabree Porter and Hannah Coleman 2, and Lakeria Wright 1.


Williston 50  Union County 29

An impressive 17 point fourth quarter led to the 10th win of the season as the Lady Devils beat district opponent Union County on the road. The win moves the Lady Devils to 6-2 in the district and secures the second seed for the upcoming district play-offs. The win also raised the Lady Devils overall record to 10-9.

The first quarter was 12-8 and at the half the score was 21-13. Leading 33-20 at the end of the third quarter the Lady Devils turned up the offense to blow out the hometown Tigers (49-27) and allow plenty of playing time for the reserves.

Danielle Dallas led all scorers with several point blank baskets that led to 17 points. Jill Edwards added 13 points and led all players with seven steals. Deonna Hamilton had seven assists and Lakeria Wright added four more. 

Other scorers for the Lady Devils were: Hannah Coleman with 6, Brianna Monroe 5, Shabree Porter 4, Deonna Hamilton and Precious Williams 2, and Lakeria Wright had 1.
