The Williston JV football team played a Tuesday night game at Booster Stadium as they hosted the Newberry Panthers.

The Red Devil JV football team spent the biggest part of the first quarter on defense as the Newberry Panther JV put together several long drives but were unable to score.

As the second quarter got underway the Panthers were forced to turn the football over on downs at the Red Devil 30-yard line.

On the second play from their own 30-yard line Malik Hall broke loose and was running for a sure touchdown when he was caught from behind and stripped of the football by the Panthers’ Malik Neal at the 10-yard line. Newberry took over at their own 20 following the touchdown saving play by Neal.

The Red Devils’ defense stepped up and forced the Panthers to punt on fourth down. A net punt of just seven yards gave the football to the Red Devils at the Newberry 27 yard line.

Unable to move the ball on the ground, Red Devil quarterback Hall hit Austin Langworthy with a quick pass and Langworthy turned and broke several tackles on his way to a 23 yard touchdown. The two point try was no good and the Red Devils held a 6-0 lead.

The Panthers took the kick off and quickly drove to the Red Devil 15-yard line where they coughed up a fumble at the Red Devil 10-yard line. The Red Devils however fumbled the football right back to the Panthers on their second play giving the Panthers the ball at the 3-yard line.

Dejwon Perry broke the plane at the goal line and the game was tied at 6-6. The two point try failed for the Panthers  as the first half ended.

The Red Devils took the second half kickoff out to the 50 yard line. The offense sputtered and the Panthers held them to a quick three and out.

The Panthers started another long drive and moved the football down to the Red Devil 12 yard line, wher the offense sputtered and the Red Devils took over.

Unable again to move the football on the ground the Red Devils went to the air. Panther Adrain Wilcox picked off a Red Devil pass and returned it 25 yards for a Panther touchdown. This time the two point try was good and the Panthers took a 14-6 lead as the third quarter ended.

The fourth quarter saw both teams start drives and turn the football over. The Panthers were holding a 14-6 lead and forced to punt the football from deep in their own territory with just 11 seconds on the clock. The Panthers punter ran back into the end zone where he was tackled for a Safety with just 3 seconds remaining.

With the score now 14-8 the Panthers had to kick from their own 20-yard line following the safety. The Red Devils returned the ball down to the Panthers 25 yard line as the game ended.
