Just like last season when the Williston Junior Varsity Basketball team recorded a 12-1 season record, the 2010-2011 JV team is a well balanced scoring machine.

The Red Devil JV team opened its season Tuesday, Nov. 23, beating the Hawthorne Hornets 64-50.

Building a small lead of 12-8 to start the second quarter, the Red Devils pulled the lead to 25-18 at the half.

Moving up and down the floor to start the third quarter, the Red Devils extended their lead to 16 points early in the quarter. The Red Devils emptied the bench for the third time, and the Hornets took quick advantage pulling to within five points at 42-37.

But as the starters returned to the floor, the speed of the Red Devil JV team again took control of the game.

Brandon Preston, fresh off the football field led the Red Devils in scoring with 17 points.

Li-Darren Sams added 14 points. Earl Brown had 9 points, and big Tyus Williams connected for 8 points.

David Heinkle who left the game early with an ankle injury had 6 points, and Damien Strange picked up 7 points. The Red Devil JV team is looking forward to matching last year’s season record.
