Joseph E. Smith has been selected as May’s Pioneer of the Year nominee.
In the nomination letter, which will be printed in its entirety in December, Smith was called a “mentor to young and old alike.”
A former judge, Smith was also praised for his concern and caring for others.
“Personally,” the nomination letter said, “I think Judge Smith is one of the best Pioneers that Levy County has reared.”
Smith joins Donny Turbeville, Theresa Batchelor and Sean Mullins in the quest to become Pioneer of the Year.
