Lions Club Sale

The Williston Lions Club, located at 401 SE 6th Ave., is holding a huge used furniture sale Sept. 16. Come check out the selections available.

All proceeds are used for community based programs. The club is open Saturdays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and is also open Fridays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

WWII Vets

World War II Vets and Proud of It will meet at Hobo's Restaurant in Trenton Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. All veterans, spouses and caregivers are welcomed. For more information, call Virginia Lewis, Williston, at 352-528-2310.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Williston Library will hold its Autumn Book Sale Saturday, Sept. 23 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. behind the library.

Lions Club Car Show

The Williston Lions Club will host a Car and Motorcycle Show Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Registration is 8-11 a.m. and is $10 in advance or $15 the day of the show.

There will be a 50/50 drawing, live music from Chrome and a barbecue lunch will be available for purchase.

All proceeds will help the club fund service projects and national charitable organizations.

The event is sponsored in part by Williston Tire and Auto, Maguire's Auto Repair and Home of Do Right Cookin.'

Legislative Delegation

State Sen. Rob Bradley, chairman of the Levy County Legislative Delegation, has scheduled the annual delegation hearing for Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 9:30 a.m. – noon at the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building, located at 660 E Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

The legislative delegation holds a public hearing each year to afford local officials, members of the public, and other interested parties the opportunity to present legislative proposals or express opinions on state issues. “This hearing really helps us to understand the needs and the goals of the community as we establish our respective legislative priorities,” said Senator Bradley. “We are fortunate to have a delegation that works well together and has been highly effective in focusing state resources on issues and institutions that are important to Levy County.”

The Levy County legislative delegation includes Bradley (R-Fleming Island) and Rep. Charlie Stone (R-Ocala). The next Regular Session of the Florida Legislature will convene on Jan. 9, 2018 in Tallahassee.

CHS Class Reunion

The Chiefland High School Class of 1968 has issued a "save the date" call for Oct. 13-14 to class members.

The class will celebrate its 50th Year Reunion next year, and the group is planning a gathering on Friday evening, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14 to start the planning process.

The group plans to gather for dinner at Beef O'Brady's in Chiefland Oct. 13 at a time to be announced later, and then will gather for a covered dish lunch at the Fowler's Bluff home of classmate Mary Beth Green Yoder at noon on Oct. 14. Bring your favorite dish and folding chair.

Beast Feast

The annual Levy County Schools Foundation Beast Feast is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Etheridge Produce Farm in Williston.

The annual fundraiser event features a variety of great food from clam chowder to “yard bird on a stick” prepared and served by cooks from local businesses and civic groups in a casual, picnic setting. The evening will include door prizes and drawings.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students 8-17. Tickets go on sale Aug. 21st.

Proceeds from the event support Levy County School programs promoting student learning, effective teaching and scholarships for Levy County seniors.

Total Fitness Class

Each Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 a.m., a total fitness class is held at the Bronson Community Church, next to Levy County Transit.

Participants use free weights, step and resistant bands.

Bring a towel and water, and get ready to sweat. A $2 donation is asked.

No One Dies Alone Program

Haven Hospice believes that we can assist with reducing the number of patients who die alone with our new Volunteer Based Program “No One Dies Alone”. This program will be volunteer driven and will be available to help patients and families during their journey.

Haven is actively recruiting volunteers who may be interested in volunteering for the No One Dies Alone Volunteer Program. This program will be offered to our families in all areas served by Haven Hospice. The volunteers will be specially trained and have a deep desire to help in end of life visitations. Lions Club Meeting

The Williston Lions Club meets on the first Friday of every month at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse, 401 SE 6th Ave., Williston.

The club hosts regular weekly and monthly events for all to participate and is always accepting new members and volunteers who want to help out in our community. Guests are welcome anytime.

• Fridays The Children’s Table is at the Club from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Offering FREE Eyesight Screenings for adults and children over 7.

Mobile Food Pantry

The second Thursday of each month there will be a mobile pantry sponsored by From the Heart Ministry at the Masonic Hall in Williston. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Williston Junior Horseman’s Club

NEW MEMBERS WANTED: The Junior Horseman’s Club invites all children ages 5-17 years to participate in a fun, mounted horse club.

If your child loves horses and wants to learn more, this is the club for them.

The Williston Junior Horseman’s club offers bi-monthly mounted meetings, introductions to a wide variety of disciplines, trail rides, games, mini clinics, hippology, field trips and much more! All disciplines, breeds and experience levels are welcome.

Children with or without a horse are encouraged to participate.

Meetings are every other Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Williston Horse Park.

Costs are $10/year plus WHA yearly family membership ($45/year).
