Chamber Mixer

PuroClean will sponsor a Williston Chamber of Commerce Mixer Thursday, June 29 from 5-6:30 p.m. at 703 NW 7th Blvd., Williston.

Guest speaker will be Michael Chung from the Small Business Development Council. Chung will offer information and tips on how business owners can help grow their businesses.

There will be food, drinks, raffles and opportunity to network with other business owners.

Decorate For July 4

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all businesses and residences in the area to decorate for Independence Day.

Bring out the bunting, fly the flag, rim your house in red, white and blue lights.

To make it a little more interesting, there will be a contest and the winner in each division (business, residential) will win lunch for four, a certificate of bragging rights and a cash prize.

Judging will be done July 1-2 and the winners will be announced at Horseman's Park the evening of July 3.

No One Dies Alone Program

Haven Hospice believes that we can assist with reducing the number of patients who die alone with our new Volunteer Based Program “No One Dies Alone”. This program will be volunteer driven and will be available to help patients and families during their journey.

 Haven is actively recruiting volunteers who may be interested in volunteering for the No One Dies Alone Volunteer Program. This program will be offered to our families in all areas served by Haven Hospice. The volunteers will be specially trained and have a deep desire to help in end of life visitations. Lions Club Meeting

The Williston Lions Club meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse, 401 SE 6th Ave., Williston.

The club hosts regular weekly and monthly events for all to participate and is always accepting new members and volunteers who want to help out in our community. Guests are welcome anytime.

Future events are being planned and the club would appreciate your assistance. Call 352-214-3315 or 352-362-6553.

• Wednesdays: The Children’s Table is at the Club from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

• Thursdays: Bingo at the Club at 2 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. Bring a new friend or canned goods for free cards.

• Every Saturday: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Indoor Flea Market/ Thrift Store. Vendors can set up outside for free.

Offering FREE Eyesight Screenings for adults and children over 7.

WE SOAR Summer Programs

WE SOAR, Inc. will host its 2017 Summer Enrichment Program through Aug. 12 offering piano/keyboard lessons, drums/percussion lessons, dance, pantomime and drama.

Sessions will start in the evening from 6:30-8/9 p.m. at various locations.

JBE Kindergarten Registration

Registration for kindergarten continues at Joyce Bullock Elementary. Class/teacher placement will begin in mid-June.

To register, you will need your child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and a physical that cannot be more than one year old from the start of the school year.

• Incoming kindergarten students must be 5 on or before Sept. 1

• Screening dates will be scheduled when packets are submitted

• Students enrolled in Williston daycares will be screened at daycare

• School begins Aug. 10 but not for all kindergartners, due to the staggered start

• Packets are available at the school Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

• If your child attends JBE Pre-K, he is automatically registered for kindergarten. Updated physicals and immunizations are needed.

Dementia Support Group

A local support group for caregivers who are coping with loved ones suffering from dementia will have its first meeting Saturday, June 24 from 1-3 p.m. in the community center at Williston City Hall, 50 NW Main St.

The group plans to meet monthly with no associated fees in order to offer a community service for those who are trying to navigate the waters of dementia caregiving.
