The Williston girls tuned up for the district basketball tournament last weekend with a Senior Night victory over Dunnellon, 65-32.
The team finished with a 17-8 record, 8-2 in the district, and will play Friday at 6 p.m. at Newberry in the district semifinals. The championship game is Saturday night.
Senior Margaret Brown had a powerful double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 rebounds to control the frontcourt game for the Devils.
Kaetta Jackson and Kim Dobbins each had 10 points.
After three ties in the first quarter, the Devils found themselves down 10-8 late in the period. But Brown had a free throw, and Dobbins scored two baskets in a row from under the basket, where she was also dominant, and that started an 18-point run that carried into the second quarter. Brown had nine more points in the streak, including a three-pointer to make it 26-10.
Dunnellon came back with a mini-run of six, but Jackson hit a jumper and a three, and it was 31-16 at the half.
From there it was never close and the girls opened up a 35-point lead in the third period that led to a running clock.
Earlier in the week the girls had dropped a 59-44 decision at Santa Fe. Brown was the only player in double figures with 14 points, while Dobbins led under the boards with eight rebounds.
