Ever since the Frisbee went into production in 1957, the plastic platter has been a popular play toy for dogs. The animals have shown natural athleticism by leaping great heights to catch a flying disc thrown by their owners.

Lawrence Frederick, a dog lover and former Frisbee World Champion from Jacksonville, decided to combine his Frisbee talents with the talents of seven "rescue" dogs to form a professional Frisbee dog touring show called the "Disc-Connected K9's Frisbee Dog Team." Rescue dogs are animals who are either abandoned, homeless, sheltered, or came from a humane society.

Lawrence and his team of World and National Frisbee champs will be in Bronson at the Bark-N-Purr Charity Event & Barbecue Cook-Off on Saturday, Feb. 23. The event will be held at the Bronson Youth Athletic Field starting at noon.

So bring the whole family and come on out to see Aero Dynamic, an 11-year old three-time National Champion; Happy Girl, a fifth-place finisher in the 2007 World Frisbee Dog Championships who spent her first year under a portable elementary school building; and Flash, a lively 3-year-old who lives for nothing more than to play Frisbee. The rest of the team, Harley Davidson, Easy Rider, Zorra, and Leaping Lucy, the youngsters of the group, also will entertain and delight you and show you how any dog can become incredible if well cared for and loved. .
