Cattlemen Meeting

The Levy County Cattlemen and Landowners Association will have its spring meeting Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. at Don Quincey’s home on the Suwannee River.

Egg Hunt

Food for Less, located at 633 E. Noble Ave., Williston, will have an Easter Egg hunt Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m.

The egg hunt will have many prizes for all ages, free food, face painting and egg dyeing. 

Families can register for free food and giveaways.

Jazz Concert

The Gainesville Friends of Jazz  will present Gary Langford & The Jazz Project Tuesday, April 26 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 4225 NW 34th St., Gainesville. 

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. This will be the last concert for the 2010-2011 concert series. A cash bar provides both adult beverages and soft drinks.

The fees are $20 general admission; $15 members and $10 students.

Wild Hog Race

AMVETS Post 88 is gearing up for the 34th Annual Wild Hog Canoe & Kayak Race on April 30.  This marks the sixth year the post has hosted the race. Registration starts at 7:30.  You can visit the website at http://www.wildhog.wetpaint.com for information and print the racer’s registration form.  There is sure to be a category you can race in so get busy planning to have a great time at this year’s race.  

All proceeds go to help the Levy Association for Retarded Citizens.

Nimitz Reunion

USS NIMITZ (CVN68) Association 14th Annual Reunion will be held Oct. 26-29 in Pensacola. Come help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Naval  Aviation.

The banquet guest speaker will be NY Times best -selling author Stephen Coonts.

FOL Book Sale

Friends of the Williston Library will hold its monthly book fair May 7 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the City Hall Community Center 

Volunteers are needed to help set up Thursday night at 6 p.m.; Friday morning at 9 a.m. and then to clean up after the sale Saturday afternoon.

Roberta Bombonato, of Morriston, will be there selling and autographing her book, “An Unconventional Family”. She was here last month and was met with approval by all who spoke with her about writing.

Also as always the monies from the sale go to the library for books and other materials needed so much by the the library.




Mentors Needed

Unity Family Community Center (UFCC) is looking for men and women to become mentors for children of incarcerated parents. UFCC will be hosting mentor training for anyone who wishes to become a mentor. The training will consist of valuable information regarding how to become an effective mentor. Training will be held 9-11 a.m.

AmVets Post 444, located on Alt-27 just past the BP station on the left side headed toward Bronson, has Bingo every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The games are open to the public.


Methodist Thrift Store

First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.


Lions Club

The Williston Lions Club hosts Bingo Thursday at 7 p.m., with two jackpots. Bring a friend and get a free game.

The flea market and Farmers’ Market is open Saturday from  8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteers and new members welcome.

The club is located at 401 SE 6th St., Williston.
