To the editor:
I was saddened by Pastor Stewart’s opinion piece in last week’s Pioneer.
His unprovoked attack on evolution seemed based on a fundamental denial of the purpose of science, which is to simply observe and document the ongoing revelation of existence.
He suggests that a convicted felon should have greater authority on this subject than a Nobel Prize winning physicist, another cause for concern.
The next time he recommends that we close our eyes to the world, perhaps we might follow Matthew’s advice: “Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
