Dick Williams was 24 years old when he first set foot on the beaches of Normandy as part of the D-Day invasion.
A medic, Williams saw the horror of war first hand–images he never forgot and in 2012 published his memoir "Men of Iron: A Tribute to Courage."
In less than two weeks on June 6, the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion will be commemorated and the 93-year-old Williams wants to be there. There's only one problem–expensive air fare.
Friends are helping the Williston resident raise money and the WWII veteran has volumes of his book that he's willing to give away for a donation. All proceeds will go toward his airfare.
"Men of Iron: A Tribute to Courage" is available at the Williston Pioneer office. Get yours today and help one of the greatest generation fulfill a dream.
