The Williston boy's baseball team hosted the Crystal River Pirates Feb. 23, at the Devils home field.
After downing the Dunnellon Tigers and Citra high school and starting their regular season 2-0, the Red Devils fell to the Pirates 18-5 in six innings.
The offensive-minded Pirates scored in every inning and ended the game early with five runs in the top of the sixth inning.
It all started early for the Pirates as they scored two runs in their first at bat on a lead off single followed by a home run.
The Red Devils responded in their first at bat as Austin Etheridge walked and went to third base on a Coven Terrell single.
Bradley Jones plated Etheridge with a two out single, as Jones then scored on a Justin Baker single to tie the game at 2-2.
Terrell scored for the go ahead run off a Conner Clayton double to deep centerfield.
The Red Devils took a 3-2 lead after one full inning of play.
The Pirates answered in every inning as they scored three runs in the second, six runs in the third, but were held to just one run in the fourth and fifth innings. The Red Devils pulled the score to 12-5 as Christian Morris blasted a solo home run for the Red Devils, his third of the season, in the fourth inning.
The Pirates answered in the fifth with a solo shot to take a 13-5 lead after five complete innings.
The Pirates erupted for a five-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach as the Red Devils could not answer with their bats.
