A Williston area couple have been arrested on a variety of drug charges by the Levy County Drug Task Force after a months-long investigation into drug dealing.
Demetrius Shountrelle (DJ) Jones, 28, Northeast 35th Street, Williston, is charged with manufacture of crack cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of MDMA/Ecstasy with intent to distribute, three counts of sale of crack cocaine, three counts of possession of crack cocaine, three counts of sale of MDMA/Ecstasy, three counts of possession of MDMA/Ecstasy, and possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and maintaining a drug dwelling.
Joani Lynn Jones, 29, of the same address, is charged with possession of MDMA/Ecstasy with intent to distribute, manufacture of crack cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond is $218,500. Her bond is $50,000.
According to the sheriff's report, the task force executed a search warrant last Wednesday at the couple's home at Mack Apartments and found a plastic bag containing about 3 grams of a powder that field-tested positive for cocaine, a small metal pan that contained a layer of a substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine, a loaded 9-mm handgun, 3 boxes of 9-mm ammunition, a glass crack pipe, an electronic scale, and a plastic bag that field tested positive for MDMA/Ecstasy.
According to the Sheriff's Office report by Rob Bowers:
* On May 2, the task force recorded a telephone conversation between a confidential source and Mrs. Jones setting up a drug buy with Mr. Jones at the Mack Apartments. The 0.2 grams of substance purchased field-tested positive for crack cocaine. Deputies also obtained audio and video recordings of the transaction.
* The same undercover source also obtained 0.1 gram of a substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine from Mr. Jones on May 19. The task force also obtained audio and video recordings of the transactions.
* Another audio and video recording was made of a similar transaction on June 24 where Mr. Jones sold 0.4 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine and 1 gram of a substance that field-tested positive for MDMA/Ecstasy.
* On July 21 two transactions were recorded where the source purchased three tablets that field-tested positive for MDMA/Ecstasy and, later, 20 tablets that also field-tested positive for MDMA/Ecstasy.
According to the report, Demetrius Jones made all the sales to the source.
