Howard R. Cook and Helen R. Grant were married in Coeymans Hollow Methodist Church in New York Aug. 25, 1950. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children Laura (Cal) Byrd), Jeffrey (Paulette) Cook and Susanna (Butch) Benka and held at daughter Laura’s home. The dinner was attended by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Both Howard and Helen graduated from Ravena High School in Ravena, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. They lived in Kentucky before he went overseas and in Massachusetts after his return.
The couple moved to Florida in 1959, where he operated a wrecker service, garage and sold used cars and parts. Mrs. Cook worked for the Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Gainesville and for the USDA, Farmers Home Administration in Chiefland, Gainesville, Trenton and Bronson.
