Dudley Farm Old-Fashioned Plow Days will showcase agricultural practices before the tractor and mechanization as highly skilled draft horse and mule teams plow the crop fields in preparation for spring planting Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
There will be traditional skills demonstrations, wagon rides and music. Come look at these big beautiful and powerful creatures and the hard work we once depended upon them for.
School groups, by advance reservation, are welcomed Feb. 4. The farm is located on SR 26 (Newberry Rd), 4 miles East of Newberry and seven miles west of I-75 exit 387. Admission is $5/vehicle.

AMVETS Grand Opening
AMVETS Post 447 will host a grand opening Saturday, Feb. 5 beginning at noon at its new post.
There will be food, desserts and door prizes.
Pork, chicken quarters or turkey legs with fixings will be available for $4.
The post is located at 405 E. Hwy. 40, Inglis.
FOL Book Sale
Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold the February First Saturday Book Fair, Feb. 5 from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the City Hall Community Center.
There will plenty of books to choose because there has not been a book fair since early December. Prices will be low at $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for softbacks, 25 cents for paperbacks, $1 for tapes and videos and 10 cents for children’s and magazines.
Volunteers are needed Thursday, Feb. 3, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon. If you can help sort books and get the center ready for this sale, call Mary McDaniell at 528-5972.
All proceeds go to the library for items, books, events, etc. that cannot be met by city, county and state programs.
JBE PTO Yard Sale
Joyce Bullock Elementary School PTO will hold a yard sale Saturday, Feb. 5 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Rent your own spot to sell your “stuff” for $10 (you’ll need to provide your own table) -OR- get rid of your “stuff” by donating it to the yard sale.

The Levy County Fair Association will present The 2011 Silver Prom Saturday, Feb. 5 from 6:30 – 11 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church Parish Hall
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served and there will be free champagne at 8 p.m. A cash bar will be available.
The music will begin with the 1940s and move through the years.
Tickets are $15 for singles; $25 for couples.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

In recognition of Black History Month, The Friends of the Williston Public Library will present the Santa Fe College Kika Silva Pla Planetarium Coordinator James Albury as its guest speaker Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Williston Public Library located at 10 S.E. 1st St. in Williston.
The program begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The March program will be the “Suwannee Valley Players.” This event will be held Thursday, March 10 at the Williston Woman’s Club located at 1049 NE 6th Blvd in Williston.

Woman’s Club Fashion Show
The GFWC Williston Woman’s Club Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12 at the clubhouse, located at 1049 NE 6th Blvd.
Beginning at 11 a.m., fashions and accessories will me modeled while guests enjoy a Valentine themed lunch that includes appetizer and dessert. A supply of fashions and accessories will be available to purchase onsite.

AMVETS Post 88 is gearing up for the 34th Annual Wild Hog Canoe & Kayak Race on April 30. This marks the sixth year the post has hosted the race. Registration starts at 7:30. Painted Pizza Box Contest
Angelina Mia’s Restaurant in Williston is offering a “Painted Pizza Box Contest” in conjunction with the Levy County Fair.
Every month there will be a total of 30 boxes available to be picked up at the restaurant on West Noble Avenue.
Paint the box any way you like and bring it back by the end of the month. Boxes will be judged monthly and the top three winners from each month will receive a free large pizza.
