Monday, May 14

AARP Chapter 912
AARP Chapter 912 will meet Monday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church Hall.  The speaker will be Tamara Wooda, PA-C, from Palms Medical Group. This will be the last regular meeting until September.

Wednesday, May 16

WHS Parent Night
Williston High School Parent Conference/Family Night will be held at the school Wednesday, May 16 beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing through 7 p.m .

Saturday, May 19

Safety Expo
The Levy County Public Safety and Hurricane Preparedness Expo will be held Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Williston Airport.
There will be several demonstrations including vehicle extrications and working dogs for search and rescue. Ambulances, fire trucks, helicopters, a medical simulator lab, forestry equipment and police cars will be on display.
The event is free.

Quilt Museum Open House
The Log Cabin Quilters will host an Open House and will celebrate Winnelle Horne’s life  Saturday, May 19, at the Levy County Quilt Museum.
The Quilters will also celebrate the new Levy County Sheriff’s substation that will be housed in the Museum.  The museum is located at 11050 NW 10th Ave., Chiefland, about one mile north of Alt .27 on NW 10th Ave between Chiefland and Bronson.


Vocational High School Reunion
Students who attended Williston Vocational High School from 1948-1968 will hold a reunion June 1-3.
You are asked to spread the word and help locate classmates for this walk down memory lane.

   Williston Garden Club
The Williston Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of the month September through May.  Anyone  interested in all aspects of gardening is encouraged to attend a meeting, 9:30 a.m. in the hall at the rear of the First Presbyterian Church, 247 NE 1st St., Williston. Call 528-9300 or 528-3323 before coming to make sure a field trip isn’t planned for that day.

Senior Assistance
Assistance is available for qualifying residents of Alachua and Marion County over the age of 60 who are being discharged from the hospital or rehab center or have experienced an illness or other crisis and need temporary services in their homes. The Community Living Program can provide help for seniors who meet eligibility requirements.
 Services may include personal care, medical equipment and supplies, home delivered meals, transportation and many other types of help.
 The Elder Helpline is toll free and available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For assistance,  call 1-800-963-5337.

Lions Club
The Williston Lions Club is accepting new and gently used teddy bears for the Teddies for Tots program. The stuffed animals are used by police and law enforcement personnel to give to children and seniors in crisis situations.
Bring your donations to the club from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday. The club is located at the corner of 4th Street and 6th Avenue.

Methodist Thrift Store
First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.

Free Space for Yard Sale
The Williston Lions Club at 401 S E 6th St. is offering free outside space for anyone interested in selling their yard sale/ flea market items under the shade of the oaks. Bring your own tables.  

Volunteers Needed

Feisty Acres, a no-kill all-volunteer cat rescue shelter, located between Bronson and Williston is in need of volunteers. AmVets Post 444, located on Alt-27 just past the BP station on the left side headed toward Bronson, has Bingo every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Senior Citizen Bingo
The Williston Senior Center, 521 NW 1st Ave. hosts bingo every Wednesday and Thursday.

Quarterback Club Ranch Rodeo
The 2012 Williston Quarterback Club Ranch Rodeo, sponsored by Thomas Cattle will be held  Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May  26 at the Williston Horseman’s Park Arena, beginning at 8 p.m.
Participants are high school young men and women. Events will include: Wild Cow Milking. Wild Horse Racing, Steer Tying, Calf Riding and a Calf Scramble for the little cowboys and cowgirls
Admission is $10.

Relay for Life Fund-raisers

Poker Run
