5K Cancer Awareness Race/Walk
The Chiefland Woman’s Club will host its Second Annual 5K Cancer Awareness Race/Walk Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Trailhead Park in Chiefland.
The race/walk will be the opening activity for the Chiefland Chamber Christmas Festival. The entry fee for the race/walk is $20 and proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Deaf/Hearing Impaired Dinner
Saturday, Dec. 5 there will be a Christmas Dinner in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Bronson from 6-8:30 p.m. for all deaf/hearing impaired, family members and friends.

Toys for Tots Fund-raiser
AMVETS Post 88 will host a Toys for Tots Fund-raiser from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Dec. 6.
There will be chicken dinners and chili served. Santa will be there from 1-4 p.m., and you may have your picture taken with him. There will be live music and horsehoes for your entertainment. Bring a new unwrapped toy for Tri-County Toys for Tots.
Thursday, Dec. 10
Judge Smith Reception
Judge Joseph E. Smith will be honored with a reception Thursday, Dec. 10 from 4:30-7 p.m. at Bronson Elementary School Cafeteria, Ishie Ave., Bronson.
Remarks will be made at 5:30 p.m.
Smith is retiring after more than 16 years on the bench.
Friday, Dec. 11
Light Up Williston Parade
The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for this year’s Light Up Williston parade.
The parade will be held Friday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. Immediately following the parade with be the lighting ceremonies conducted by the GFWC Williston Jr. Woman’s Club in Heritage Park.
If you would like to be in the parade please contact the Chamber office at 528-5552 or Sharon C. Brannan, CPA at 528-6558 for an application.
The Chamber of Commerce is in need of volunteers to work the parade route for the Light Up Williston parade on Friday, Dec. 11.
Volunteers will work approximately two hours that evening, assisting with directions and traffic control.

Children’s Christmas Party at Bronson Library
Be sure to come and see Santa Claus at the Bronson Library, Saturday, Dec.12 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There will be gift bags for children under 12 and refreshments for all.

Tobacco Coalition Meeting
The Levy County Health Department’s Tobacco Prevention Program will host a Coalition Against Tobacco meeting Dec. 15 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Bronson First Baptist Church, 460 South Court St., Bronson.
All individuals interested in or affected by tobacco’s impact in Levy County are invited to attend. Youth are welcome and encouraged to attend, so bring the whole family. Please RSVP by calling Lisa Johnson at (352) 486-5590. Light refreshments will be served.
Wranglers and Rhinestones
The GFWC Williston Jr. Woman’s Club will present “Casino Night”, a nontraditional fund-raising event New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 at the Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club.
Mosey on down for some old fashioned fun and help us raise lots of loot for our local schools. Hang up your guns and enjoy a casual evening filled with a silent auction, casino gaming with local dealers and a heap of hometown hors d’oeuvre. Get ready to get down because music will play all night by DJ Lewis Stokes from 93.7 K Country. A New Year’s Countdown Party will start at 11 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available now. The horticulture department has grown its annual crop of red and white poinsettias for your home, church or office. White poinsettias are able to be decorated with paint and glitter to match your décor.
Red poinsettias are $7.50 and White are $10 and will be available beginning Nov. 22.

Operation Christmas Child
Through Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project, Suwannee Valley residents are packing shoebox gifts for children in more than 100 countries suffering from natural disaster, war, terrorism, disease, famine and poverty.
Drop off your filled shoe boxes at any of the Suwannee Valley Operation Christmas Child’s twelve well-located drop off centers through out Baker, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor counties.

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is a drop site for anyone wishing to send items to our local soldiers through AMVETS Post 444 Ladies Auxiliary.
Any donation is welcome: toothbrushes, toothpaste, phone calling cards, instant coffee, powdered drink mixes, etc.
Stop by Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to made a donation to these soldiers.
The Williston Lions Club will open their Farmers’ Market Friday and Saturday through December and hold Bingo every Friday at 7 p.m.
The club’s food concession is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. They are there to answer your questions and help you sign up for membership. There is an indoor flea market, table spaces are available.
Levy County Farmers Market has fresh produce and plants.

Stitches from the Heart needs volunteers to knit, crochet or quilt blankets, sweaters and hats for babies in need. These items are donated to hospitals all over the country. Patterns are available. Donated yarn for seniors is available.
