Saturday, Oct. 1

JBES Yard Sale
Joyce Bullock Elementary PTO will sponsor a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.  You may rent a space for $10 to sell your yard sale items.   The yard sale will be held in the high school parking lot near the Methodist Church.  Contact the school office at 528-3341 or  e-mail lewism@levy.k12.fl.us for reservations or more information.

Monday, Sept. 19

 Republicans’ Meeting
The Levy County Republican Executive Committee will have its monthly meeting at Bubbaque’s Restaurant in Chiefland Monday, Sept. 19 starting with food and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 22

TDC Meeting
The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. at the  Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

School Wellness Advisory Committee
The first Levy County School Wellness/School Health Advisory Council Meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2:50 in the School Board Office located at 480 Marshburn Drive, Bronson.  
All interested community members are invited to attend. The district Wellness Policy and Plan are located on the School Board Website ( www.levy.k12.fl.us).  Just click the “Departments” link at the top and then scroll down to Food Service and you will see the Wellness Policy and Wellness Plan.  
The purpose of the meeting will be to review the current Wellness Plan, discuss available resources for classroom teachers related to nutrition and health, and to establish our Goals for the 2011-2012 School year.  For more information you can contact Carol Jones, District Wellness contact at 486-5231, or Angie Phillips, School Health Advisory Council Chairperson at 486-5260.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Schools Foundation Beast Feast
The Levy County Schools Foundation will be hosting its 2nd Annual Beast Feast Oct. 8 at the Black Prong Equestrian Center on CR 337, Bronson.  
Dinner will begin being served at 5:30 p.m.  An interesting selection of specialties like gator tail, possum ribs, and venison along with some good old fashioned southern classics like mullet, grits, and swamp cabbage will be served.  
There will be door prizes throughout the evening and a live auction at the end of the evening.  Adult tickets are $20 each in advance, or $25 at the gate.  Student tickets are $10 for children 8 to 17,  available at the gate only, and children 7 years and under, no charge.
Tickets may be purchased at any of the Capital City Bank, Drummond Community Bank and Perkins State Bank branches across Levy County.  
If your business, community organization, club or group of individuals would like to participate you may prepare a food, donate door prizes or an auction item.  There are also sponsorships available for $500 and $250.

Walk for Life
The 12th Annual Walk For Life will be held  Saturday, Oct. 15.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk will commence at 9 a.m. 
 This year  a free breakfast is included for  all pre-registered walkers.  For those that cannot join the walk, sponsoring a walker is a great way to show your support of life.

Williston Art League
The Williston Art League meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the history room of the First United Methodist Church on Noble Avenue.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Meeting dates are  Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 (location for this meeting to be determined).

Upland Habitat Course
The Florida Master Naturalist Program will begin a six-week course on upland habitats Thursdays Sept. 22-Oct. 27 at the Levy County Extension Office, 625 N. Hathaway Ave (Alt. 27), Bronson.
The cost is $225, which includes student workbooks, 12 presentations, three field trips, four videos, certificate, patch, pin and more.

Williston Genealogy Club
Lindsey Hager is interested in establishing a genealogy club in the Williston area.
Interested parties will meet at the Williston Public Library Monday from 6-7 p.m. (not including Labor Day).
Hager will help novice genealogists get started by showing them how to use the Internet in their research.

Free Space for Yard Sale
The Williston Lions Club at 401 S E 6th St. is offering free outside space for anyone interested in selling their yard sale/ flea market items under the shade of the oaks. Bring your own tables.  This will be available for free on the last Saturday of the months from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.  For more information, call Missy at 352-484-8047

Lions Club
The Williston Lions Club hosts Bingo Thursday at 7 p.m., with two jackpots. Bring a friend and get a free game.
The flea market and Farmers’ Market is open Saturday from  8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteers and new members welcome.
The club is located at 401 SE 6th St., Williston.

Methodist Thrift Store
First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.

Volunteers Needed

AmVets Post 444, located on Alt-27 just past the BP station on the left side headed toward Bronson, has Bingo every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

First Baptist Church of Williston will hold Zumba Fitness classes with two certified Zumba trainers each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
