Sept. 11 Memorial
Perkins State Bank will host its annual Sept. 11 memorial ceremony Friday, Sept. 9 at 8:30 a.m. at the branch bank in Bronson. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Flu Shot Clinic
AARP Chapter #912 is sponsoring a Flu Shot Clinic Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Williston City Hall Community Center.
  Medicare recipients must show their Medicare card but there is no out-of-pocket cost.  The cost for non-Medicare recipients will be $20.  A receipt will be given for this charge.

Post 58 9-11 Celebration of Life
Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m., The American Legion  Post #58 in Dunnellon,  is hosting a “9-11 Celebration of Life” at  the Post at 10730 U.S. Highway 41.
This event is open to the public of the  greater Dunnellon area. A ceremony with  speakers sharing their knowledge and memories of 9/11/01 will take place outside at the flagpole  memorial.
Afterward, inside the hall, more memories of the day will be shared and visitors can view the Memorial Display, enjoy food and DJ dance music, all in order to celebrate those lives lost that day  and to pay tribute to those that worked tirelessly in the search, rescue, and  recovery of those that could be saved.
The Post is asking for a $5 donation per person, at the door, to offset  expenses to host this event. There will also be commemorative 10th Anniversary T-shirts for sale. All active military, law enforcement, fire and EMT personnel who arrive in uniform will be admitted at no charge.

Monday, Sept. 12

AARP Chapter 912
AARP Chapter 912’s first meeting after the summer hiatus will be Monday, Sept. 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church Hall, 17353 NE Hwy. 27A, Williston. 
National AARP members are encouraged to join the local chapter.  Annual dues are $7 and at each meeting we give $1 at the door to help defray costs for rent and refreshments. 
 The program this month will be presented by Roy Mitchell of SECO.  After the meeting there will be a pot luck lunch provided by members.

Tuesday, Sept. 13

Dunnellon FOL
The Friends of the Dunnellon Public Library will hold their first monthly meeting of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 13 beginning at 10 a.m. in Library Meeting Room, 20351 Robinson Road,  Dunnellon.

Sign Language Course
The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer a new section of Expressive Basic Beginner Sign Language beginning Sept. 13.
The course will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays through Oct. 18 at the Levy Center, 114 Rogers Blvd., Chiefland. The course fee is $75.
Students will learn how to sign the deaf alphabet and how to fingerspell vocabulary. Facial expressions and body language will be incorporated into what is being communicated. At the end of the course, students will be able to carry on a simple conversation with comfort.
Instructor Linda Cardinal is a Levy County resident who has served the deaf community for the past 15 years. She is an active member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and the Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She holds a Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages certificate, specializing in American Sign Language.
Participants may enroll in person at the Levy Center or online at CFItraining.cf.edu (select Levy noncredit classes). The enrollment deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 6. Space is limited.

Walk for Life
The 12th Annual Walk For Life will be held  Saturday, Oct. 15.  Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk will commence at 9 a.m. 
 This year  a free breakfast is included for  all pre-registered walkers.  For those that cannot join the walk, sponsoring a walker is a great way to show your support of life.

Williston Art League
The Williston Art League meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the history room of the First United Methodist Church on Noble Avenue.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Meeting dates are  Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 (location for this meeting to be determined).

Williston Genealogy Club
Lindsey Hager is interested in establishing a genealogy club in the Williston area.
Interested parties will meet at the Williston Public Library Monday from 6-7 p.m. (not including Labor Day).
Hager will help novice genealogists get started by showing them how to use the Internet in their research.

Free Space for Yard Sale
The Williston Lions Club at 401 S E 6th St. is offering free outside space for anyone interested in selling their yard sale/ flea market items under the shade of the oaks. Bring your own tables.  This will be available for free on the last Saturday of the months from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.  For more information, call Missy at 352-484-8047

Lions Club
The Williston Lions Club hosts Bingo Thursday at 7 p.m., with two jackpots. Bring a friend and get a free game.
The flea market and Farmers’ Market is open Saturday from  8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteers and new members welcome.
The club is located at 401 SE 6th St., Williston.

Methodist Thrift Store
First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.

Volunteers Needed

AmVets Post 444, located on Alt-27 just past the BP station on the left side headed toward Bronson, has Bingo every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.


First Baptist Church of Williston will hold Zumba Fitness classes with two certified Zumba trainers each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
