TDC
The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting Thursday, July 28 at 6 p.m. at Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.
The meeting is open to the public.

Friday, July 29

Fish Fry
CSI – Citizens Seeking Improvements – will hold a fish fry fund-raiser Friday, July 29 from 5- 7 p.m. at the Cornelius Williams Park on Highway 27A. All proceeds will be used for improvements at the park.

Saturday, Aug. 6

Holy Family Yard Sale
Holy Family Catholic Church will have its monthly yard sale Saturday, Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Dance Registration
Dance Xtreme will hold its registration Saturday, Aug.  6 from 10 a.m. until noon.

Sunday, Aug. 7

Poley-Horne Reunion
The Grandpa Poley Horne Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Levy County Quilt Museum.  It will be an all day gathering with music.  Bring food for the lunch buffet and come enjoy the day. 
A drawing for the Blue Star Quilt will be done that day.
  Grandpa Poley - James Napoleon Horne and Lewgenia M. Keene have many descendants in the surrounding area.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

Invasive Plant Workshop
A workshop focusing on invasive plants will be held in the First District Building, Old Town, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 9.
The workshop will be delivered in three segments:
• Identification and control options. Plants covered will include Cogongrass Tropical Soda Apple, Japanese Climbing Fern, Chinese Tallow.
• Control Option. Includes herbicides, application methods, using a GPS, using EDDMAPS.org to track and map invasive plants.
• Cooperative invasive species management area.
The workshop is supported by a grant awarded to the Bradford Soil and Water Conservation District.
Space is limited. Call the Levy County Soil and Water Conservation District at 352-486-2672, ext. 3.
The First District Building is located on Hwy. 349, approximately nine miles on the left.

Pet Therapy
Haven Hospice will host an information session to recruit volunteers for pet therapy Tuesday, Aug. 9 from noon until 2 p.m.
Pets play an important role in people’s lives. From dogs to rabbits to birds, pets are faithful, loving and true. When people are nearing the end of life, faithful animals are even more valued and appreciated for their ability to offer unconditional love, comfort and happiness.
 Haven Hospice Volunteer Services will be hosting a meeting for those interested in volunteering with Haven’s pet therapy program.
The meeting is free and open to the public. Please bring a brown bag lunch.

USS NIMITZ (CVN68) Association 14th Annual Reunion will be held Oct. 26-29 in Pensacola. Come help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Naval  Aviation.

Williston Art League
The Williston Art League meets the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the history room of the First United Methodist Church on Noble Avenue.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Meeting dates are Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13 (location for this meeting to be determined).

Benefit Raffle
The Williston Lions Club is conducting a benefit raffle currently until Aug. 25, with proceeds to benefit Cpl. Brian Marra of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and Lions club projects in general.
The raffle will consist of various items including gift certificates from various local establishments. A $1 donation per raffle ticket or six tickets for $5.
The drawings will be held Aug. 25 at the Williston Lions Club during Bingo at 401 S.E. 6th. Ave. between 7-9 p.m. Winners do not need be present to win.
Marra was answering a call and was injured in an accident while on duty.

Zumba
First Baptist Church of Williston will hold Zumba Fitness classes with two certified Zumba trainers each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
 Zumba is a new high-energy aerobic routine, includes a little bit of everything.   If you have any questions, please call the church office at 528-4331.

Lions Club
The Williston Lions Club hosts Bingo Thursday at 7 p.m., with two jackpots. Bring a friend and get a free game.
The flea market and Farmers’ Market is open Saturday from  8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month. Volunteers and new members welcome.
The club is located at 401 SE 6th St., Williston.

Methodist Thrift Store
First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.
