FOL Book Sale
Friends of the Williston Library will hold its monthly book fair May 7 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the City Hall Community Center
Volunteers are needed to help set up Thursday night at 6 p.m.; Friday morning at 9 a.m. and then to clean up after the sale Saturday afternoon.
Roberta Bombonato, of Morriston, will be there selling and autographing her book, “An Unconventional Family”. She was here last month and was met with approval by all who spoke with her about writing.
Also as always the monies from the sale go to the library for books and other materials needed so much by the the library.

 CCF Spring Celebration
The College of Central Florida will hold a spring celebration in Levy County on Wednesday, May 11.
The event begins at 4 p.m. at the site of the Jack Wilkinson Levy Campus, N.W. 151 Lane and Highway 19/98 in Chiefland.
 “The event is to showcase the new location and say farewell to Dr. Charles Dassance for his leadership and generous support of Levy County,” said Marilyn Ladner, provost of the CF Levy Center. Dassance will retire this summer after 15 years of service to the college.
 The CF Levy Center is located at 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland. A campus will be built at the new location once additional funding is secured from the state.

Blood Drive
LifeSouth and the Williston Community invite you to be a part of saving lives when they team up to host a blood drive on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14.  Look for the bloodmobile at city hall on each day between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Hunter Safety Course
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering two free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in Levy County.
The first class is May 17 and 18 in Bronson, and the second class is May 21 in Chiefland. Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them.
The location for this class will be given to those who register in advance by calling the regional office at 386-758-0525 or going to MyFWC.com/HunterSafety.
All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children under 16 at all times.
Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must complete the hunter safety course before purchasing a Florida hunting license. The FWC course satisfies hunter safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

Nimitz Reunion
USS NIMITZ (CVN68) Association 14th Annual Reunion will be held Oct. 26-29 in Pensacola. Come help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Naval  Aviation.
The banquet guest speaker will be NY Times best -selling author Stephen Coonts.

Mentors Needed
Unity Family Community Center (UFCC) is looking for men and women to become mentors for children of incarcerated parents. UFCC will be hosting mentor training for anyone who wishes to become a mentor. The training will consist of valuable information regarding how to become an effective mentor. Training will be held 9-11 a.m.
