FFA Barbecue

Williston High School FFA Chapter will host a barbecue pork dinner Friday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. before the Red Devil homecoming football game.

Tickets, which are $8, are available either pre-sale from an FFA member or at the dinner in the high school cafeteria.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Woman’s Club Fashion Show/Luncheon

The GFWC Williston Woman’s Club will host a luncheon and fashion show Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday Oct. 31. The event will take place at the GFWC Williston Woman’s Club building on North State Road 121. Only Saturday tickets remain.

The luncheon will be prepared by members of the club, and will begin at 11 a.m. Those who have previously attended will be astonished at the quantity and quality of the new fashions for 2009.

This event is being held for the benefit of Heifer International, an organization set up to help alleviate the root causes of hunger throughout our nation and the world.

Saturday, Nov. 7

Pistol Class is Fund-raiser

A basic pistol class will be held Nov. 7 in the Levy County Sheriff’s Office classroom, 9150 NE 80th Ave Bronson.

The class, hosted by the sheriff’s office, will qualify participants for a Florida concealed weapons permit.

The cost is $50 and this is a fund-raiser for the Cates’ family, who mother was struck while jogging outside of Bronson.

Bingo

Levy County Home and Community Educators will host Bingo Thursday, Nov. 12 from 1-4:30 p.m. at the extension office off US 27A in Bronson.

The cost is $5 for two cards, $1 for additional cards. The cost includes snacks and drinks. Prizes will be awarded to winners.

The Williston High School Band will have a car wash and yard sale Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. until 3 pm.

Woman’s Club Yard Sale

There will be a yard sale and market place at the Williston Woman’s Club Saturday Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Toys for Tots Bike Run

The Fifth Annual Nature Coast Toys for Tots run will be Saturday, Nov. 21.

Register at Bubbaque’s in Chiefland from 10:15 a.m. until noon.

Riders will leave at 12:15 p.m. with a law enforcement escort and travel to Charlie’s Bar in Cross City.

A prize will be given to the best decorated bike. There will be live music, auction, vendors and food for a donation, in addition to a full service bar.

The toy run is authorized and sanctioned by the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

The GFWC Williston Jr. Woman’s Club will present “Casino Night”, a nontraditional fund-raising event New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 at the Williston Highlands Golf and Country Club.

Mosey on down for some old fashioned fun and help us raise lots of loot for our local schools. Hang up your guns and enjoy a casual evening filled with a silent auction, casino gaming with local dealers and a heap of hometown hors d’oeuvre. Get ready to get down because music will play all night by DJ Lewis Stokes from 93.7 K Country. A New Year’s Countdown Party will start at 11 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available now. Farmers’ Market

The Lions Club has their food concession open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. They are there to answer your questions and help you sign up for membership. There is an indoor flea market, table spaces are available.

Levy County Farmers Market has beautiful fresh produce, plants, garden starters, orchids, Free Centrum vitamins, Caltrate and housepaint are also available.

Handy with a Needle?

Stitches from the Heart needs volunteers to knit, crochet or quilt blankets, sweaters and hats for babies in need. These items are donated to hospitals all over the country. Patterns are available. Donated yarn for seniors is available.
