Holy Family Catholic Church will have its monthly Fish Fry Friday, March 11 at the Parish Hall, located three miles north of Williston on Hwy 27A from 5-7 p.m.
Fish, french fries, hushpuppies, drinks, dessert and your choice of two sides of baked beans, coleslaw, or grits will be served.
Cost is adults $7, senior citizen meal (slightly smaller portion) $6 and children $4 (under 12). Take out orders welcome.

The Genealogy Society of Levy County will meet Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Levy County Quilt Museum (11050 NW 10th Ave., Chiefland). The afternoon includes an informal Genealogy Workshop: Members to Members. The public is invited to attend, especially beginning genealogists.

Holy Family Catholic Church will host a lite lunch Wednesday, March 16 from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall located three miles N. on Hwy 27A. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge or obligation of any kind.

Midtown Cruisers will have a cruise-in Saturday, March 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Ladd’s Napa.
Lincoln Luncheon Fund-raiser
Florida Chairman of the Republican Party, Dave Bitner, will be the guest speaker at the Yankeetown-Inglis Republican Club Lincoln Luncheon Fund-raiser Saturday, March 19 at noon.
Tickets are $10 for club members and $15 for non-members.

Wonders of the Salt Marsh
Citrus, Levy and Marion county residents are invited to attend “Wonders of the Salt Marsh” April 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This two-day event, coordinated by the Friends of the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve, will take place at the preserve at 1001 Old Rock Road, Yankeetown.

Clay Pigeon Benefit Tournament
The Tri-County Pregnancy Center will hold its annual Rhino Outdoors Clay Pigeon Benefit Tournament Saturday, April 16. Registration for the tournament will begin at 7 a.m. and shooting will start at 9 a.m. A barbecue lunch will be served and lunch tickets can be purchased for those not shooting.
Shooter entry fee is $100 with ammunition, targets, and lunch provided. Four person teams and individual shooters are invited to register by calling the Tri- County Pregnancy Center at (352) 528-0200. Shooting Station Sponsors’ advertising signs are available for a $100 donation. The Tri-County Pregnancy Center is a Christian, non profit organization dedicated to serving those in need by providing clothing, food, and Christian counsel. It does not accept government funding, and relies solely upon the community to help meet its financial needs.
Wild Hog Race
AMVETS Post 88 is gearing up for the 34th Annual Wild Hog Canoe & Kayak Race on April 30. This marks the sixth year the post has hosted the race. Registration starts at 7:30. There is sure to be a category you can race in so get busy planning to have a great time at this year’s race.
All proceeds go to help the Levy Association for Retarded Citizens.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars at 3107 W. Dunnellon Rd, CR 488, Dunnellon presents: Breakfast, including a massive plate of victuals (10 items), is served the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 8:30 - 11 a.m. at a cost of $6. BINGO with a progressive jackpot is held every Friday from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Hot dogs, burgers and french fries are available. Open to the public.

Painted Pizza Box Contest
Angelina Mia’s Restaurant in Williston is offering a “Painted Pizza Box Contest” in conjunction with the Levy County Fair.
Every month there will be a total of 30 boxes available to be picked up at the restaurant on West Noble Avenue.
Paint the box any way you like and bring it back by the end of the month. Boxes will be judged monthly and the top three winners from each month will receive a free large pizza. They will also be displayed and judged at the Levy County Fair in the Creative Arts Tent during the April 2011 Fair. For more information about the Fair go to LevyCountyFair.com
Levy Fair Karaoke
It is that time of year again for the Levy County Fair coming up April 7-10.
The preliminary contests will be held this year at the following locations and dates:
March 13 1 p.m. AmVets Post 88, Bronson
March 20 1 p.m Coconuts, Cedar Key
March 27 1 p.m. Mason’s Lodge, Williston
Sponsors are needed for Inglis and the Chiefland/Fanning Springs areas. If you are interested in sponsoring a preliminary event ($175 for prize money), please call Carol Perkins (352) 682-1335.
There will be a $10 entry fee for each preliminary contest entered, and contestants can enter each one until they win first, second or third place. The first, second and third place winners will go to the final competition at the Levy County Fair on Saturday, April 9.
These competitions will be open to all singers unless you have a recording contract. This opens the contests to many more of you that may sing locally and were previously considered professionals. Duets are also allowed this year, but if you sing a duet, you will not be allowed to sing solo.
Contestants will be judged on singing ability, technical difficulty of the song, dress and appearance, presentation, eye contact and interaction with the audience and judges. On this last crierion, please be advised that does not mean you can leave the stage area and go out into the audience. Please be sure to arrive early for registration on the date of each preliminary contest.
Prize money for the preliminary contests will be:
First Place $100
Second Place $ 50
Third Place $ 25
