WEee^SOARee^Fish Fry

WE SOAR, Inc./Gospel Fest Committee will sponsor a fish fry fund-raiser Friday, June 18 from 6-9 p.m. at the Allen Chapel AME Church, located at 48 NE 9th St.

Dinners ($7 or $5) will include fish, two sides (baked beans, cole slaw or grits) and bread; extra menu items include whole smoked mullet, homemade cake and drinks.

The proceeds from the fund-raiser will support upcoming summer youth programs and community events.

Class of ‘80 Reunion

Willison High School Class of 1980 will hold a reunion June 18-20.

On Friday there will be a mixer; Saturday night dinner/dancing at the Womans Club and a barbecue Sunday at Rainbow Springs.

Pancake Fund-raiser

Troop 163 from the First United Methodist Church will be saluting dads with a pancake breakfast Father’s Day Sunday, June 20.

The money raised will help send some deserving scouts to summer camp. The breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Breakfast will consist of coffee, orange juice, milk, sausages, and all you can eat pancakes. The cost of the breakfast will be $5 per person.

Tourist Development Council

The Levy County Tourist Development Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday, June 29 at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Agricultural Center, 625 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson.

On the agenda is the review of an advertising grant application. 

Saturday, July 3

Free Car Wash

There will be a free car wash Saturday, July 3 at “Food 4 Less” from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Funds will help send local soccer teams to the Nationals.

Munden Reunion

The Munden Family Reunion will be held Saturday, July 3 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Pavillions A and B at Hart Springs located on the Suwannee River.

Bring your favorite dish to share. Plates, napkins,utensils, serving utensils, coffee and tea will be provided.

Food will be served promptly at 12:30 p.m.

Bell Wood Turners

The Bell WoodTurners (“BWT”), the north central Florida chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, (“AAW”) is having their 9th annual Demo/Sale day July 10 at the Bell Community Center (on Highway 129) in Bell. The fun begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. BWT serves woodturners in Alachua, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchris, Lafayette and Levy counties.

Admission is free and all attendees receive a free weedpot and are eligible for door prizes. There will be live woodturning demonstrations through the day. Also on display will be replication of a historic bow lathe.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars at 3107 W. Dunnellon Rd, CR 488, Dunnellon presents:

 Breakfast, including a massive plate of victuals (10 items), is served the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 8:30 - 11 a.m. at a cost of $6.  Open to the public.

 BINGO with a progressive jackpot is held every Friday from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Hot dogs, burgers and french fries are available.  Open to the public.

 DARTS is held every Wednesday at 1 p.m.  Open to the public.

 Regular monthly meeting of the post and auxiliary(s) is at 5 p.m. to eat, 6 p.m. to meet the third Thursday of every month.

Family Programming

Tri-County Pregnancy Center is offering a new program to the community called Birth of a Family, which promotes the strong growth of lasting nuclear households, giving mothers and fathers the foundational tools to build families that stand the test of time. 

Clients attend a seven-session course guiding them through principles essential to healthy family relationships. A unique feature of this program is the participation of trained “Family Coaches.”

 Local volunteers from the Christian faith community are prepared to travel through the seven-session course alongside a client couple, or single, as role models and encouragement.

AARP Activities

There will be no regular meetings of AARP Chapter #912 this summer. Fun events are planned for the second Monday each month. 

On July 12, members will take a tour bus to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa.  The cost is $30 which includes a $5 meal voucher and $25 of free play.

The SHARE Florida Food Networkannounces it 2010 registration and distribution dates. Registration times are 1-3 p.m. and pick up times are 9-10 a.m. Both take place at Cornerstone Assembly of God.
