WGP Clean Up
The Friends of the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve (WGP) will meet Sunday, Sept. 26, from 1-3 p.m. to do some maintenance at the Preserve, 1001 Old Rock Road, Yankeetown.  The public is invited to help keep the WGP a great place to visit. Benefit Yard Sale
A multi-family yard sale to benefit Williston Central Christian Academy will be held Friday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m.-noon and Saturday, Oct. 2 from 7 a.m. until noon at 225 SE 4th St. (Old Williston Church of God).

FOL Book Sale
Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold it first Saturday Book Fair, Oct. 2,  in the city hall community center from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
This is a major fund-raiser for Friends. Monies are needed to buy materials and books for use in the library , and to improve our offerings as the need arises. Prices are  low,there are many good books to choose, there are magazines for interest and crafts, there are cookbooks, religion books, children’s book and history books in addition to several tables of fiction.

Benefit Yard Sale
There will be a rummage sale to raise money for the Archer Youth Athelic Scholarships  Saturday, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Fire Station on the corner of State Road 45 (US 27) and 137th Ave. in Archer.

SHINE
October is the month SHINE, a volunteer program with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs  offers to assist you in finding a Medicare Part D Drug Plan for 2011 that is the least expensive for you and will cover your drugs.
Enrollment for Part D begins Nov. 15 and ends Dec. 31.
Bring your Medicare card, your presecription drug plan card and your prescription drug bottles or a printout from your pharmacy of the last 90 days of your drugs.  
SHINE provides free, unbiased and confidential counseling on Medicare issues.
Come by a site or call 1-800-262-2243 to be referred to a volunteer or a site near you.
The next sessions are Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until noon at the  Williston Public Library and from 1:30– 3:30 p.m.     Bronson Public Library.

Bird Watching
UF/IFAS Levy County Extension presents the first in the Homeowner Gardening for Wildlife series – Providing Food for North Florida birds. Fall and winter present opportunity to take up a popular and growing pastime, bird watching. Join other interested area residents, Friday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. -noon, at the Levy County Extension office, 625 North Hathaway Avenue,  Alternate U.S. 27, Bronson.
 Emma Willcox, UF/IFAS Regional Specialized Agent, Wildlife/Natural Resources will discuss attracting birds of North Florida with native plantings and supplemental food sources. Tips on plant selection, based on your landscape, and a tour of the demonstration garden will illustrate an integrated approach to home landscaping that may provide food for birds and butterflies.

Oktoberfest Dinner Dance
Knights of Columbus, Council 8510 will sponsor an Oktoberfest Dinner Dance Oct. 16 at St. John the Baptist parish hall. 
The evening will feature authentic German cuisine of roast pork and kraut, brauts, red cabbage and potatoes.  Music will be provided by “The Carriers” with dancing till 10:30 p.m.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. 
 The evening will also feature a “Basket of Cheer” door prize, a 50/50 drawing, basket raffles and a movie star game. 
 Tickets are $15 each and are available at the church office or any Knight or by calling 352-489-6221. 

Bronson Chamber Yard Sale
The Bronson Chamber of Commerce is planning a yard sale to benefit its Pumpkin Festival Oct. 30.
The yard sale will be Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 404 N. Hathaway.

AmVets Post 444, located on Alt-27 just past the BP station on the left side headed toward Bronson, has Bingo every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The games are open to the public.

Senior Singles
Senior singles, 55 and older, who need friendship are encouraged to join a group in Williston that hosts activities and conversation.

Methodist Thrift Store
First United Methodist Church Mission Thrift store is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The store is located at 25 SW 3rd St., Williston.

Dunnellon VFW Post 7991
The Veterans of Foreign Wars at 3107 W. Dunnellon Rd, CR 488, Dunnellon presents: Breakfast, including a massive plate of victuals (10 items), is served the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 8:30 - 11 a.m. at a cost of $6.  BINGO with a progressive jackpot is held every Friday from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.  Hot dogs, burgers and french fries are available.  Open to the public.
 Regular monthly meeting of the post and auxiliary(s) is at 5 p.m. to eat, 6 p.m. to meet the third Thursday of every month.

Lions Club Flea Market
The Williston Lions Club will open their Farmers’ Market every Saturday through December and hold Bingo every Friday at 7 p.m.
