Williston FOLee^Book Sale
The next “Friends” Book Fair will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m in the Williston City Hall Community Center.
Volunteers are asked to help begin sorting books Thursday night at 6 p.m. and continue Friday morning at 9 a.m.
Helpers are also needed for the sale itself on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Call Mary Mcdaniell, 528-5972 if you can help at any of the times above.
This is the first book fair for “Friends” since December. The donations of books have been plentiful the past two months.
Prices are: Hardbacks, $1; softbacks, 50 cents; paperbacks, 25 cents; children’s and magazines, 10 cents ; tapes and CDs $1. All monies realized are used for the betterment of the Williston Public Library. The books are all clean and in good condition and can give years of enjoyment or information.
Hospice Yard Sale
Haven Hospice will host a yard sale to benefit American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Saturday, Feb. 6 at Haven Hospice Tri-Counties in Chiefland from 8 a.m. until noon.
There will be refreshments and a bake sale, as well as a 50/50 drawing.

Joyce Bullock PTO will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Joyce Bullock Loop, where parents drop off and pick up children.
Monday, Feb. 8
AARP Activities for February
AARP Chapter #912 will meet Monday, Feb. 8 in the Holy Family Catholic Church Hall at 9:30 a.m. Members will be bringing in new and gently used items for the Tri-County Pregnancy Center and its director Debbie Osborne, will be the guest speaker.
Friday, Feb. 19, members will travel by bus to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. This trip is open to the public on a space available basis. The cost is $30. Call Sharon Holder at 528-5653 or 817-3876 for information.
On Feb. 23 the goup will sponsor an Information Fair in the Church Hall from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. This Fair will be of special interest to veterans in the area as several of the vendors provide services through the Veterans Administration or the Veterans Hospital. There will also be representatives from SHINE, the Center for Independent Living, Emergency Resource Services, and others with information of interest to many people.
Visitors are always welcome at meetings. Anyone who is an AARP National member can join the local chapter. Yearly dues are $7.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
The second meeting of the Williston Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the conference room of Williston Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 300 NW 1st Avenue, behind Hardee’s. Family, friends and caregivers of people at any stage of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are welcome. The support group meetings are currently scheduled for the second Tuesday of every month (at 6 p.m. at Williston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center), however if there are those who need a different time of day/day of week, it would be possible to start a second group. Please call one of the numbers above to register your interest.
Sunday, Feb. 14
Genealogy and History Society
The Levy County Genealogy and History Society will meet Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Levy County Quilt Museum.
This month’s speaker will be member Myrtice Scarbarozi who will present a program on eligibility requirements for the Florida Pioneer Cetificate.
‘Cruzin’ for Kidz”
The Williston Elementary School Safety Patrols are hosting the Second Annual “Cruzin’ for Kidz” motorcycle ride on Saturday, Feb. 20 beginning at Williston Elementary School, 801 S. Main St. Registration 8:30-9:45; kickstands up at 10. Ride for free—Donations accepted. Lunch will be available for purchase upon the riders’ return to WES. Peanut Producers Meeting
The Florida Peanut Producers Association will host its 35th Annual Membership Meeting Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Jackson County Agriculture Center, 2741 Penn Avenue, Marianna. The theme this year is “Passport to Flavor and Fun” and we have an informative meeting planned. All peanut growers and spouses are invited to attend. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the traditional smoked steak dinner.
Wild Hog Canoe Race
The Wild Hog Canoe Race will be held April 17, with “Return to the Wild” paddling options April 16 for boaters to paddle down some of our most beautiful waterways. Check out the website: http://www.wildhog.wetpaint.com for information.
Land Judging Event
The Tri County Land Judging Event for all FFA and 4-H members will be Feb. 26.
This contest is restricted to members of FFA or a 4-H club. The host this year is Levy County. The youth will meet behind the IFAS office in Bronson on Hwy 27-A.
The Williston FFA Alumni and other friends are in the early stages of planning a retirement reception for Robert Philpot.
Philpot has been an Ag Teacher at Williston High School since 1973 and is retiring at the end of this school year. The reception has been planned for Saturday, May 15 at the Williston Middle School Cafetorium from 3-6 p.m.

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is a drop site for anyone wishing to send items to our local soldiers through AMVETS Post 444 Ladies Auxiliary.
Any donation is welcome: toothbrushes, toothpaste, phone calling cards, instant coffee, powdered drink mixes, etc.
Stop by Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to made a donation to these soldiers.
The Williston Lions Club will open their Farmers’ Market Friday and Saturday through December and hold Bingo every Friday at 7 p.m.
The club’s food concession is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. There is an indoor flea market, table spaces are available.
Levy County Farmers Market has fresh produce and plants. If you have something home grown or handmade, you are encouraged to participate. Call Erv at 875-7756.
Handy with a Needle?
Stitches from the Heart needs volunteers to knit, crochet or quilt blankets, sweaters and hats for babies in need. These items are donated to hospitals all over the country. Patterns are available. Donated yarn for seniors is available.
