Bronson woman killed in accident

A Bronson woman became the fifth traffic fatality for 2013 in Levy County when the car she was driving left the road and struck a tree shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Carolyn Jean Jones, 54, of Bronson was driving a 2012 Toyota Yaris west on U.S. Highway 27A at Northeast 112th Terrace when  the car left the road and struck a tree in a wooded area.
Jones, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedic Kathy Wilson of Levy County Fire Rescue.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. Daniel DeWeese.
The other fatalities this year include:
• A Newberry couple, Wilbur Ladue Barlow, 76, and Julia Barlow, 77,died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, when their Toyota Prius went under a semi trailer being backed across U.S. Highway 41 just north of County Road 335 by Floyd A Wyatt, 46, of Winter Park, at about 8:20 p.m. The FHP investigation is continuing.
• Jo-Ann Braswell Bailey, 66, died in a similar accident on Jan. 24 at about 7:30 p.m. when her minivan collided with a flatbed trailer on Northwest 55th Avenue, two miles north of County Road 330. She was driving a 2003 Pontiac mini-van southbound on Northwest 55th Avenue as William A. Graden, 28, of Chiefland was attempting to back a 1997 Freightliner semi and flatbed from the northbound lane into a driveway. The trailer was across the southbound lane when the front of the mini-van collided with the trailer.The FHP investigation is continuing.
• Teresa Reed Riedel, 49, of Chiefland died in a crash on Jan. 29 at 6:30 a.m. when a vehicle failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. Highway 129 and County Road 346A just east of Chiefland and collided with Riedel’s vehicle. The investigation is still continuing.
