Staff Report

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after George Hamilton Pierce, 51, was found dead inside the residence at 10151 N.E. 48th Lane, according to a press release.

Deputies were alerted to the death on Friday, Dec. 8, by an unidentified family member. No cause of death is being given by the Sheriff’s Office. This would be the county’s second homicide for 2012.

Pierce was sentenced in 2007 to 13 months on two methamphetamine charges. He was released from state prison in 2008, according to the Florida Department of Corrections website. One of the charges dated to 2005 and for which he received drug offender probation. He was found to have violated the probation and was sentenced to prison.

In 2010 he was cited for two violations of country animal ordinances but the charges were dismissed. Another charge in 2008 for contempt of court for violation of a domestic violence injunction was nolle prossed (dropped) by the state attorney’s office. It was not the first time he was changed and the case dropped for the violence injunction, as he was charged with the same in 2005.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff’s Det. Jimmy Anderson at 352-486-5111 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477.
