Two people were arrested last week after agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Levy County Sheriff’s Office received information about an indoor marijuana grow operation at 10150 NE 103 Lane in Bronson.

Eduardo Alvarez-Carillo, 44, and Clara Isis Exposito were both charged after officers interviewed them at the home March 19 and discovered a hidden room (photo page 12) where marijuana in various stages of development were found.

Some were harvested and ready for sale while others were in the beginning stages of growth.

A total of 58 plants were seized with a street value of $58,000.

As a result of this investigation, it was discovered that the homeowner had been stealing power to support their drug growing operation, according to a sheriff’s press release.

It is estimated that thousands of dollars of electrical power has been taken.

Additional charges may stem from this discovery.

Both Exposito and Alvarez-Carillo were arrested and booked into the Levy County Detention Facility charged with possession of cannabis and cultivation of cannabis over 20 pounds.

Bond has been set at $600,000 for each defendant.
