ST. AUGUSTINE -- Quintell Coleman ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards, but that was one of the few bright spots for Bronson in a 51-12 loss to St. Joseph Academy’s football team Friday night.
Coleman caught a 43-yard TD pass before halftime, making the score a respectable 22-12 at the break. But the Flashes exploded for 29 points in the third period and that set up a running clock to finish the game.
St. Joe rushed for 290 yards, while Bronson ran for just 37.
Blake Benedict scored three touchdowns for St. Joe on runs of 5, 5 and 50 yards.
The loss is the fourth straight for the Eagles, who fall to 1-6 for the season. The only victory was a win over Daytona Beach Father Lopez on the road.
Bronson returns home for a match this week with Branford, then has a week off before playing host to Tallahassee Maclay on Nov. 5.
The season will close with a road game on Nov. 12 in Gainesville against St. Francis Catholic High School.
