Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold its October First Saturday Book Fair, Oct. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Williston City Hall Community Center.
It is the same day as the Peanut Festival which is held on the strand along Main Street. Special events of the book fair will be the selling of both the Williston: Crossroads of Florida and the Levy County History Book at a special combination price. Drollene Brown, a faithful member of the history books projects, will be on hand to sell these bargains.
Also at the book fair raffle tickets will be sold to win the original art work produced by S.M. Wells, Highwayman artist, who appeared at the library Sept. 18. He created the work at the program and "Friends" purchased it for raffle at the Woman's Club Art Festival next May. The tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. Someone is going to have his ticket drawn next May for an original art work.
Volunteers are asked to come to the community center Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6:00 p.m. to unload books into the center and volunteers are also asked to sort books at the center, Friday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. until noon. Any member who can help the day of the sale is asked to come anytime after 8:30 a.m. to help bag and carry books when they are sold . Suggested donations for books: Hardbacks, $1 each; Softbacks, 50 cents; paperbacks, 25 cents; magazines and children's books, 10 cents. Audio and video tapes, puzzles, and other items are $1.
This is a good opportunity to pick up good, clean used books for gifts or for personal collections.
