ATV accidents kill 2, including girl, 12

Two people died — a 12-year-old and a 22-year-old, and a child, 5, was injured in two separate four-wheel ATV (all-terrain vehicle) accidents, while another four people were injured in two vehicle accidents all in Levy County this weekend, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Cheyenne Ellis, 12, of Trenton died when she lost control of the ATV she was driving on a limerock road at Gulf Hammock Hunt Club at about 10 p.m. Saturday. Brody Ellis, 5, of Cedar Key, suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida for treatment.
The second ATV accident occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday at Northeast 115th Avenue and Northeast 74th Lane in Levy County. Dead is Lucas Benjamin Corbitt, 22, of Bronson. Corbitt was heading north on Northeast 115th Avenue, a dirt road, when he came to a curve and did not maintain control of the vehicle, according to the report. Corbitt's body was discovered several hours after the accident by a resident walking along the road at about 9:30 a.m.
Ashley A. Wilcox, 24, and Aidan J. Shirley, 8 weeks, both of Bronson, were seriously injured and treated at Shands Hospital after an accident  at 2 p.m. Saturday on County Road 337 at the Alachua County line.
The report said the 1996 Nissan Sentra Wilcox was driving left the road after she suffered a medical event. The car struck a culvert and a power pole before overturning.
The fourth accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on County Road 316 five miles south of Williston when a 2012 Ford SUV crossed the center line and collided with a 2011 Nissan SUV travelling in the opposite directon.
Jessie L. Ostroman, 82, of Williston, suffered critical injury and Betty G. Douglas, 54, of Williston, suffered serious injury in the accident. Both were taken to Shands Hospital for treatment.
