Williston City Council honored the April Students of the Month at its meeting Tuesday night.
Mayor Gerald Hethcoat presented honors to:
Williston Elementary School:
Anna Petteway, fifth grade student at Williston Elementary and daughter of    Carl and Brandy Petteway.
She was nominated by her teacher,  Nancy Bowman, who made the following comments:
“Anna is a joy to teach.  She’s a positive, attentive and eager student, as well as a kind and considerate classmate to her peers.  Her smile is contagious. She’s active in the First United Methodist Church, an ELP student at WES, and maintains an A/B average.  She loves to dance and play games with her family.  She is an all around great girl and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to get to know her as well as watch her grow academically through her fourth and fifth grade years at WES.”
Kole Starnes, son of Jeff and Robin Starnes and a seventh grader at Williston Middle School was nominated by the seventh grade team who made the following comments:
“The 7th grade team has chosen Kole Starnes as our Student of the Month.  Teachers agree that he is a hard worker and will seek help when he needs assistance.  He is an active and responsible member of WMS FFA.  He has good relationships with his peers and with staff here at WMS.”
Erica Mason, a senior at Williston High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mason. She was nominated by Mr. Lott, her principal who made the following comments:
“I am honored to recommend Erica Mason as Student of the Month. She is an exceptional young lady who has worked very hard to attain the honor of representing her class as “Valedictorian.” She is a tenacious, fearless, dependable, enjoyable young lady. She has always taken honor and advanced classes and never given up when asked to do something. She is well thought of by her peers and faculty alike.
“Another tremendous honor is that Erica has been awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Florida.
“It is with a great deal of pride that we are able to recognize the achievements of Erica Mason as a Mighty Red Devil.”
